The artist was inspired by wild animals and praised them for being as persevering and unyielding as the agave in the painting.
Chen created very detailed illustrations inspired by nature and wild animals with the finest tip of pen and ink. The kiwi bird has a small and stubby body, a long and pointed beak, strong legs, and hair-like feathers. Because of its degraded wings, it cannot fly. Kiwi birds are easily frightened, and most of their activities are carried out at night, so it is not easy to observe their ecology. When foraging, use a sharp beak to spy flexibly, and the nostrils at the end of the long beak can sniff the position of the worm, and then prey.
